Scoutbase selected to join Safetytech Accelerator Waypoint programme
12/11/2021Scoutbase – a company which combines safety science, design thinking and IT to deliver safety tools for the maritime and offshore industries – has been selected to join Waypoint, Safetytech Accelerator’s commercial acceleration programme.
Scoutbase collects continuous and anonymous feedback from seafarers about their work and life at sea to help safety and fleet managers set their crews up for success; empowering and giving them a voice, as well as getting real-time insights across fleets allowing for data-driven decisions and tracking results.
Safetytech Accelerator is a non-profit founded by Lloyd’s Register to solve safety and risk challenges using technology. The Waypoint programme is aimed at making emerging safety and risk technologies accessible and affordable for the whole marine industry while providing startups with a commercially viable route to scale in the marine market.
Over the next three months, the partnership will see the Safetytech Accelerator team work closely with Scountbase to develop opportunities for field trials of their technology to improve fatigue management across the industry.
“We are excited to be taking this next step as we look to realise the potential of our technology to improve mental health and wellbeing across the maritime industry,” said Mads Ragnvald Nielsen CEO of Scoutbase, “it is a great opportunity to prove the value of acting proactively and the importance of understanding problems holistically and tackling them at source in order to be able to create healthy and safe workplaces.”
Scoutbase joins the Waypoint programme after participating in Safetytech Accelerator’s recent event “Using technology to assess mental wellbeing in maritime’’, where they showcased their technology among several others.
Maurizio Pilu, Safetytech Accelerator Managing Director commented, “Mental health and wellbeing of seafarers is not a new concern, but COVID-19 has shed even more light on this issue. Having looked at several promising technologies, we think the Scoutbase technology and approach could have great potential to make a real difference to mental wellbeing in maritime. We look forward to working together over the coming months.”
