Safetytech Accelerator selects Senseye as first startup to join Waypoint acceleration programme
24/05/2021Safetytech Accelerator has selected computational neuroscience startup Senseye as the first company to join the Waypoint acceleration programme with the aim of improving fatigue management in industry.
Safetytech Accelerator, a non-profit established by Lloyd’s Register to solve the most pressing safety and risk industrial challenges with innovative digital solutions, today announced it has selected Senseye as the first startup to join its Waypoint acceleration programme.
Waypoint is aimed at making emerging safety and risk technologies accessible and affordable for the whole marine industry while providing startups with a commercially viable route to scale in the marine market. Over the next three months, the partnership will see the Safetytech Accelerator team work with Senseye to develop opportunities for field trials of their technology to improve fatigue management across the industry.
“We have already worked successfully with Safetytech Accelerator to explore the viability of our technology in the industry,” said Simon Woods, President of Senseye, “We are excited to be taking this next step as we look to realise the potential of our neurotechnology to improve safety and wellbeing across the maritime industry.”
Senseye is joining the Waypoint programme after completing proof of concept tests with Pacific International Lines as part of a Safety Accelerator challenge in 2019. The challenge saw Senseye’s technology adapted for use as an operational risk management tool and deployed to a container ship for a three month pilot.
Maurizio Pilu, Managing Director at Safetytech Accelerator commented, “We’re delighted to work with Senseye again as we really believe there can be significant safety and wellbeing benefits for crew members from technologies such as Senseye’s.”
