Collaborating to increase assurance and compliance in construction12/05/2022
In November 2021 Safetytech Accelerator announced a collaboration with Discovering Safety to explore highly innovative technology-based solutions that can directly increase assurance and compliance in the construction industry.
We are now pleased to announce that AuditComply has been selected to join this collaboration, with their data-driven automation technology for assessing risk. Costain, a well-known UK engineering and construction company, will be facilitating this challenge with their vast experience in infrastructure projects.
This is part of a series of collaborations with Discovering Safety, a programme of work funded by Lloyd’s Register Foundation and delivered by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and their key partners. Safetytech Accelerator’s role in the collaboration was to run open innovation challenges and pilot innovative technology solutions to maximise the use of health and safety data and help prevent incidents in the construction sector.
In this sector, non-compliance of regulations, rules and best practices causes significant impact on safety and job performance. One specific use-case being informal practices – or shortcuts – that contravene known safety guidance. From post-incident reports we know these occur despite training, procedures and management practices designed to remove them.
Nadia Echchihab, Head of Innovation Programmes at Safetytech Accelerator, had this to say about the announcement: “It is exciting to see technologies such as AuditComply come to the fore in collaborations like these. This is a great opportunity for Safetytech Accelerator to bring together industry players with important problems to solve, with tech companies who have the solutions.”
Kevin Donaghy, Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer at AuditComply commented, “We’re delighted to be the chosen technology solution to address this challenge. Over the last six years, AuditComply has been proud to help several global teams better manage their Environmental, Health & Safety functions. We work hard to develop best-in-class solutions to ensure employees stay healthy and get home safe from each working day, and we think this collaboration will deliver tremendous value for everyone involved.”
Watch this space as we publish outcomes of this collaboration in the coming months.
